I am a recent graduate from SETU Waterford where I studied Visual Communication. I'm a dedicated photographer and graphic designer, with a singular focus on my projects. For my photography, each image serves as a piece of a larger narrative, capturing pivotal moments that come together to tell stories. Photography has always been my creative outlet, a craft that I am continuously developing and striving to perfect. The processes I've developed in photography transfer to my graphic design work. Prioritising the work and the process.

I draw inspiration from the Art and Photography of the early decades of the twentieth century, particularly the German and Russian. Many of whom were killed in WW1.
An era that existed in the hinterland, drawing from their past but hinting towards options, some of which were developed in the US throughout the 20th century by the likes of Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Stiglitz. And in Ireland by Mainie Jellett. They lived through hell, or died in it.

My practice draws on the exploration of the human body and for purposes of economy and practicality I utilise my own body in the production of my work. The overarching themes of bodily autonomy, materiality, body politics and identity reoccur in various forms and physical expression. My interest in biomorphic structures stem from childhood experiences exploring my rural surroundings which shaped and developed my understanding and respect of a natural landscape analogous to the human body.

Gerardine Wisdom is an artist who works in rushwork basketry, also in ceramics and mosaic murals. Uniquely in Ireland, she has taken this ancient craft of rushwork and turned it into a new Irish Art Form in sculpture. The mosaic murals are created using handmade ceramic pieces and broken ceramic tiles.

Gerardine has passion for rushes and is inspired by the natural beauty she sees around her in the Irish landscape where she lives, especially in its lake and shores of the Shannon.

Gerardine has over 20 years experience working with schools, community groups and festivals.
