Sean Taylor is a socially engaged sound artist, with extensive knowledge in the field of social art production. His collaborative art practice engages with social and environmental issues through multimedia artworks, sonification’s and situated public performances.
He employs various media and creative genres to create art works that speak of the need for social action.
The social art projects that Sean undertakes, frequently conclude in ambitious multimedia artworks that are delivered in a myriad of community settings.
He holds a PhD exploring Acouscenic Listening and the Creative Soundwalk and its links to the social and creative reimaging of place. In 2013 he qualified as a Deep Listening practitioner from the Deep Listening Institute, Kingston, New York, USA (with composer Pauline Oliveros).
Since 1984 he has exhibited extensively internationally and his work is available in both private and public collections throughout Europe, Mexico, Asia and the USA. He has achieved numerous artistic awards from the Arts Council of Ireland, The British Council and the Arts Council of Scotland, and other public funded cultural organisations.
