Artist Biography

My work explores power dynamics through symbolic storytelling, using modelling paste and oil paint on board. I create charged, textured scenes where human and animal figures coexist in uneasy tension. Their interactions reflect cycles of control, vulnerability, and survival, each piece capturing a suspended moment within a broader narrative. The balance of dominance and submission is never fixed, shifting subtly within each composition, inviting viewers to question who holds power and why.

Inspired by the psychological intensity and moral ambiguity of old storybooks, I build a dream-like visual world that feels both familiar and uncanny. These stories, often darker in their original forms— offer a framework to explore themes of sacrifice, transformation, and silence. I use this atmosphere to examine emotional truths, rendering symbolic characters who represent archetypes such as the victim, the manipulator, the witness, or the survivor. These figures are not literal portraits, but embodiments of deeper psychological states.

In many of my works, pigs, rabbits, birds, and wounded female forms appear as recurring motifs. These creatures act as visual metaphors for shame, instinct, exploitation, or defiance. By blending human and animal traits, I create hybrid characters that reflect complex emotional identities and fractured power relations. The textured surfaces of my paintings, built up with modelling paste to further enhance the raw, visceral quality of the scenes, giving physical weight to the emotional content.

Each painting is part of an unfolding narrative where conflict is unresolved, and characters remain suspended in their roles. Through this symbolic storytelling, I aim to confront the quiet violence embedded in everyday relationships and explore how identity is shaped by internal and external forces. My practice continues to evolve around these ideas, driven by a desire to give form to what is often left unspoken.
